Ann Parker here, Monday's child for the Lady Killers. I'm still trying to get back to normal after a big project (no, not fiction) finally wrapped up last Friday. I was pleased to observe that I still can, when the situation demands, work long hours, late into the night, and still keep my wits about me (just as I did "way back when"). But I've also noticed it takes a hecka lot longer to recover. Add to that, my upcoming trip to Colorado (yes, THAT is for the Silver Rush mysteries) and other projects I need to wrap up before leaving and I'm feeling just a mite tired and a bit under the gun.
However, a lot of the tiredness fell away on reading Library Director/Book Reviewer Lesa Holstine's enthusiastic review of Leaden Skies on Lesa's Book Blog. I realize that readers come to books with all kinds of expectations, and how they view a given work is not necessarily the way the writer intended. So, when a reader not only enjoys something I've written but also "sees" it in ways that I hoped it would be viewed ... well, it just keeps me smiling long into the following week.
Now, it's back to work.

Very nice review, Anna, congrats. And your remarks about taking longer to recover after a spell of really hectic work certainly rang a bell with me. In the "good old days" I could go from one really hectic spell of work to another without needing more than a good night's sleep in between!

Yes, Jane, those were the days, weren't they! :-) Still, we plug along and do pretty darn well, all considering.
