Sharan, here, near Toulouse. This is the Christmas Market, at the Capitole, the center of the old city. I was in Toulouse for three days in snow and rain. Now I'm in a farmhouse at the foot of the Pyranees. We are having a great time. I have American, French and British friends in the area and we've spent most of our time socializing. However, we have done some touring and I made sure that we saw Cathar country. Today we went to the town of Minevere, which was one of the many villages that embraced the Cathars in the 13th century and suffered for it.
On New Year's eve we are having a potluck with a mix of people and then going to a farm where there will be a bonfire and mulled wine. That's as close to a real medieval holiday as I ever expect to get.
Happy 2010 to all!!
