Usually I love the term "composting" as a verb for letting stuff simmer on the inside. Taking that shinny new idea and letting it resonate inside, until it develops into something "writable".
However, I know that the term actually has a different meaning as Michael outlined in his post on Monday - the whole vegetable decomposing thing - living in San Francisco it's actually hard to ignore that (because composting is mandatory), did you know that? We have garbage checks - people actually come around your neighborhood and snoop through your garbage bin to make sure you have properly separated the recycle stuff and food products into the right bins.
Therefore going through a kitchen remodel in San Francisco actually causes you to come up with a "garbage solution" plan to make sure separating all refuse is done in accordance with SF ordinance. How about that? Anyway, I'm sure you're anxious to see how my remodel is going...aren't you? Here are the latest pics.

What a career, garbage cop. Why didn't I think of that as an amateur sleuth character? Imagine the possibilities.
Remodel is looking good!

OMG, your kitchen is so *big* (in our district in SF, many a house has a postage-stamp sized kitchen, little changed from 1948 when many of the houses were built). I seldom have kitchen envy, but that's gorgeous!
Re: garbage cops--now I live in fear! We only use the green barrel for backyard waste. I better get crackin' ;)

The new kitchen looks like it's going to be wonderful, Diana! Don't forget to compost the sawdust.
A garbage cop would be a great character. I can see one showing up in quite a few books, thanks to your post. ;)

How exciting to see your new kitchen coming together! So when do you finally have a stove again? Or is it there, outside the picture frame? :-)

Hey ladies,
Just back from a conference - sorry to have missed your comments. Yes garbage cops!
Peggy - I laughed so hard about composting the sawdust I almost choked on my coffee! Mysti, you can come over and see the kitchen when it's done (it's really not that big - maybe it's the picture) - still a few more things to finish (like putting in the stove, Ann - that will be last).
