What is it about firsts? The first day of school, first kiss (not necessarily that close together), first book. Something special, for sure.
I hope that's a decent segue to INITIATION, as in my initiation into the world of fiction publishing.
Now, I'm going to embarrass another LadyKiller, PENNY WARNER. What I remember most about my first book, The Hydrogen Murder, is that my first look at it, in the flesh (both me and the book in the same room) was in Penny's living room. She managed to get a copy before I did. (Here's where it might get embarrassing, because I have my suspicions about how she did it. What price, Penny? Huh? What did you wear?)
So—drum roll—thanks to Penny for making that little shrine on her coffee table so that my first look at my first book would be memorable!
Now—another drum roll—here it is again, fifteen years later, reissued this week as an ebook. Sometimes firsts come around again.

I only had to sleep with your agent and editor to get that book, but it was worth it to see the look on your face. Congrats on your new and gorgeous cover! I'm just sorry I didn't get to see it first...-Penny

What a great and noble gesture, Penny! Maybe this blog will get you more "clients!"

Thanks! The cover was designed by my husband The Cable Guy, with help from his techie friends.
