Can't wait to read this one Vicki! I loved gothics as a young woman and, of course, I have a soft spot for stories of independent women and for Prince Edward County ("The County") from my time there (as a young woman reading Gothic novels).

Vicki Delany

Thanks Susan. I'll be at Prime Crime in Ottawa on Saturday Oct 20th, if you'd like to drop by.

Camille Minichino

Welcome to LK, Vicki.

I like your notion of "straddling" the two eras. Best wishes for the book!

Vicki Delany

Many thanks, Camille.

Ann

I find books that tie past and present together absolutely fascinating. I've already ordered my copy, Vicki! So did you come across a "story from the past" that was an inspiration for the historical narrative?

Vicki Delany

It was more a combination of stories, Ann. With the overall feeling: what happened back then to a woman whose husband is dead; her parents have rejected her? No skills, no job prospects, no family? Prospects were dim, to say the least.

Priscilla

Love your books, Vicki, but this one sounds especially tempting. So glad you are adding the story about the Loyalists. Growing up in Canada, I knew people who were proud of their UEL ancestry but little was made of the story in class. More should be. It is the classic tragedy of the demonization in war of the honorable dissenters.

Ann

Thanks for joining us, Vicki, here at the LadyKillers. :-)
