It's our great pleasure to host Marilyn Meredith today, on the last stop on her blog tour for her latest novel, Murder in the Worst Degree, #10 in the Rocky Bluff Police Department series. She'll be offering the opportunity to have your name used as a character. See the end of the post for details.
My Experience With Killers
To be honest, I only knew one actual killer and I don’t really remember what she looked like because I was a kid, and that was a long time ago. My mother belonged to a church group and one of the women in it killed her husband with an ax while he was sleeping. When the ladies were all talking about it, I heard one of the other women say, “He was the most boring man in the world. If he’d been my husband, I might have done the same thing.”
When it comes to the killers in my Rocky Bluff P.D. series, I’ve had a number of interesting murderers.
The first one worked in a mortuary, hated cops and little girls, and fancied himself a vampire.
Two were in my next book, a not so nice young woman and a crazy person who escaped a mental institution.
The fourth was a teen, but he was set up by a very bad cop.
A nasty mother-in-law and a pedophile came next.
A minister complicates his life so badly, that he thinks his only way out is murder.
A young man who has everything going for him makes a bad choice.
One of my later books has a serial killer in it, though he doesn’t kill anyone on scene.
And as we’re getting close my later books, I’ll only say that the murderers were ordinary people, the kind you might know or be related to someone you might know.
In my latest book, Murder in the Worst Degree, there are a slew of suspects, none of them what you’d call the murdering type. But, except for serial killers, who really is the murdering type?
Thank you for hosting me today, Lady Killers. What I’m wondering now is, do any of you know any killers?
