I could really relate to your comments, Carole. I have so many questions I wish I would have asked my relatives and now it's too late. I was going through my dad's stuff and found some old letters he wrote to my mother when he was recalled to service. I sat down and read through them, wishing he was still here to talk with.

My brothers are still alive--the three of us remember some things very differently. I suspect the answers we seek are only partially buried in our pasts... That doesn't stop me from wishing I knew more about my mom and dad's lives before we three kids came along.
