The best exchange that I can recall about blurting out the truth was in the movie, A Few Good Men, where Tom Cruise's lawyer character has the full-bird colonel on the witness stand and demands the truth. "You can't handle the truth!" Nicholson's colonel shouts back. That pretty much summed it up for me.
