Good reasons to hate snow, Ellen!

Donna Howard

I guess living in a big city like New York or Toronto would be a nightmare in winter with snow, but a small town, where the plows come by fairly regularly and everyone has a driveway for the car or a garage, is different. I remember living in Toronto and the few "big ones" we got where the city came to a standstill as the main public transit are street cars so the tracks would be covered. But I guess the debate will go on forever - you either like snow or you don't.

The mention of the snow plows sent a cold shiver up my spine, Ellen. If I had a nickel for every time I'd shoveled out my car only to have those damn plows come through later and cover them with a new and super-heavy layer of the white stuff I'd be able to but a winter home in California. In Chicago people put chairs and barricades in the spaces they've shoveled in front of their houses (referred to as "Dibs.") and God help you if you steal somebody else's shoveled parking spot. I'm hoping for a mild winter.

Thanks Donna. I don’t like hot weather either. Living in the Bay Area, between hot and cold, suits me to a T.
