For a serious look at humor, definitely take a look at Michael's post of yesterday. It's true that a lot of humor can be very mean-spirited... particularly in the educational eco-system... and it's also true that what one person finds funny may cause someone else to wince and walk away. For that very reason, writing "humorous mysteries" have to be one of the most difficult types of writing to do, IMHO. So, out in the vastness of the Internet, what's the word on "humorous mysteries?" Let's check it out!
Okay, here's a list of humorous sleuths from the Stop, You're Killing Me website.
Another list from the Winter Park public library.
And a list of the Lefty Awards for Best Humorous Mystery (awarded yearly at the Left Coast Crime convention).
Well, there's plenty here for you to find something that tickles your funny bone. And, if that doesn't do it, maybe you should try... SAD CAT DIARY on YouTube!
(Note: even though SCD received 185,000+ "thumbs up" votes, it also received 3,500+ "thumbs down." Yet more proof that humor is not universal...)
Ann, that cat looks like I feel.
